Ralph Richard Banks (author of "Is Marriage For White People?") with Marci Ien (co- host of Canada AM, @MarciIen)
African American Ralph Richard Banks (@rrbanks), author of Is Marriage for White People? is coming to Toronto this evening for an honest, open discussion about marriage and relationships as part of the LEGACY Speaker Series. Mr. Banks has appeared on The View, Nightline and Anderson Cooper’s daytime talk show discussing the issues surrounding the deterioration of marriage in North America. Mr. Banks will focus on the state of marriage in the Black community, where it’s heading and the societal reasons behind the breakdown in committed relationships.
Mark Black History Month and Valentine’s Day with a stimulating and soul-searching conversation about marriage and relationships. Prior to Mr. Banks’ appearance, there will be an hour-long discussion with prominent members of the community about finding love in Toronto and turning it into a committed relationship. Mr. Banks’ book will be available for purchase and signing on site. Networking and social event to occur afterwards.
We have been asked to host a Twitter chat session during this event. We will start tweeting at 6:30 p.m. EST. The hashtag for the Twitter chat this evening is: #blkmarriage

On September 24, 2011, we have the opportunity to attend The Excellence Conference.
The Excellence Conference was aimed at students between the ages 11 to 17 and their parents. It featured successful members of the Canadian Caribbean Community who gave career advice and guidance, touching on things like career path, level of education required, scope for upward mobility, and critical success factors for owning and operating your own business. The motivation for the conference was the low number of Caribbean students who are planning to go university or higher education need guidance.
