THE COLOR OF WEALTH: THE RACIAL WEALTH DIVIDE

0

The Color Of Wealth: The Story Behind the U.S. Racial Wealth Divide featuring author Meizhu Lui.

Lui, Executive Director of United for a Fair Economy, a United States’ nonpartisan organization that campaigns against growing income and wealth inequality and inspires action to reduce economic inequality, makes the case that until government policy tackles disparities in wealth, not just income, the country will never have racial or economic justice. Recounting the asset-building histories of Native Americans, Latinos, African Americans, Asian Americans, and European Americans, The Color of Wealth is a uniquely comprehensive multicultural history of American wealth.

This event was co-hosted by United for a Fair Economy, about which John Nichols wrote in The Nation, “United for a Fair Economy is the single most effective group in the country when it comes to publicizing issues of economic injustice and the racial underpinnings of the gap between rich and poor.” Enjoy!!

The Dr. Vibe Show: The Dr. Vibe Show WITH DALTON HIGGINS ON THE FILM "MORE THAN A HAIRCUT"

3

Originally broadcast on April 15, 2009 …

We hope that all is fine. Here is another first for the show and you!!! We have done our first interview with a film director. The director’s name is Dalton Higgins. The film that he has co-directed is titled, “More Than A Haircut”. The film tackles the fathering issue in the African-Canadian community, where a disproportionate number of children grow up without a dad. Dialogue takes place in four busy barbershops in the heart of Toronto’s Caribbean Central: Eglinton Avenue West. Listen to diverse experiences in this thought-provoking documentary, where you can take in the conversation … and get more than a haircut.”

Dalton Higgins is an award-winning journalist and broadcaster whose work has appeared in periodicals such as Vibe Magazine, Saturday Night and Toronto Star. His third book Hip Hop World is due out in the fall.

“More Than A Haircut” is showing at “The Reel Film Festival” from April 15 – April 17. For information on the screening times, please go to The Reel World Film Festival
