When we last ran into the National Society of Black Engineers, it was between March 31st to April 4th this year, during their annual convention in Toronto (NSBE’s first annual convention outside of the United States).

Well, it is been a few months since the conference, we thought that it would be a great idea to catch up with NSBE Canada to see what is going on and to have their share some moments and memories from the convention.

Last week, we had the opportunity to do a phone interview with Debra Ehrhardt, star of the one woman play, “Jamaica Farewell”, while she was at her home in Los Angeles.

Well, Debra is in Toronto to perform “Jamaica Farewell” at The Glen Gould Studio (270 Front Street West in Toronto, http://www.cbc.ca/glenngould/) today at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

I had the pleasure and opportunity to interview Ms. Ehrhardt last night after she arrived in Toronto. The Dr. Vibe Show: DEBRA EHRHARDT – STAR OF "JAMAICA FAREWELL"

In this episode, we have the opportunity to interview and share with Ms. Debra Ehrhardt. Ms. Ehrhardt is the award-winning writer, performer and star of the one woman play, “Jamaica, Farewell”. “Jamaica, Farewell”  tells the journey Ms. Ehrhardt took to leave Jamaica during the political unrest in the 1970’s. Left to her own devices, she risked prison time and even death in her attempt to pull off a daring and dangerous caper. With the unwitting help of an infatuated American CIA agent, she realized her lifelong dream of starting over in America. “Jamaica, Farewell” is  Ms. Ehrhardt’s third one-woman show. In January of 2010, Rita Wilson-Hanks, producer of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, optioned the movie rights to “Jamaica, Farewell” with a full U.S. tour of the play to open spring 2011.

Ms. Ehrhardt will be performing “Jamaica, Farewell” in Toronto on August 28, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Tickets for “Jamaica, Farewell” are $30.00 in advance and $35.00 day of.
