The Dr. Vibe Show: The Ramey Commentaries “Which Side Of The Big Line In The Sand?”

0

Mike Ramey

One of our show’s regular guests is Mike Ramey. Check out Mike’s take on Barack Obama’s support on same sex marriage:

“Which Side Of The Big Line In The Sand?”

Needless to say, just about everyone has heard about President Obama’s stand on Homosexual and Lesbian marriages (aka ‘same sex marriage’). Obama’s public declaration came on May 9th, 2012 about 3:10pm EST, courtesy of a clip from an ABC News interview that was released to the mainstream media–which included FOX News. I saw the clip. My wife heard the clip from our kitchen. FOX News anchor Sheppard Smith may have been happy with the Obama announcement. He could afford to be, because he was of the ‘lighter hue’ and was not up for election–or re-election.

Of course, being African American–and a voter–I couldn’t believe it. What made matters worse was the ‘tip off’ to his ‘decision’ was helped by his Vice President a few days before, and a member of the Obama cabinet at least 48 hours ahead of the broadcast.

The pundits will be flooding the Internet and the airwaves with their opinions right up to Election day in November.

There will be voices from the pro-gay marriage crowd citing their views. There will be voices from the anti-gay marriage crowd citing their views. This is fine. In a democratic republic with freedom of speech AND freedom of religion held to be sacred in our Constitution, this is only right and fair. However, President Obama has clearly drawn a line in the sand…a BIG line that those of us who claim to be Christian can not ignore, and MUST choose God’s side of the line!

In the end analysis, in between all the punditry and speaking, there is only one side that those who believe in Christ can afford to be on, if we are true to our faith–even if there is a price to be paid.

That being God’s side.

We knew this from the beginning–BEFORE this line was drawn.

THE SHIFTING OF MORALITY:

A few years back, John Kozy, Jr., a retired professor of Philosophy and Logic wrote an outstanding piece entitled: “The United States of Entertainment”. In sum, Kozy noted how America was allowing entertainment–from sports to rappers to movies–to create a standard of mental living that did not emphasize hard work, education, thrift and a host of other items that used to be standards of our society. His last line in the piece was equally prophetic: “Although man may not live by bread alone, more bread and less play yield better lives than more play and less bread. America needs what is called “a paradigm shift.” Americans need to rethink their cultural values.” This piece first surfaced about 2008. Little did we know how much punch it would have four years later.

MORALITY AND COMMON SENSE:

Same-sex marriage is one of those ‘shifting morality’ issues, which has been steadily creeping up the bedrock of the American moral foundation. No national or international power since the dawn of time has lasted very long by indulging in a national policy which caters to homosexuality, and/or any other ‘agenda item’ which goes against morality and good, common sense. Furthermore, attempts to link an ‘agenda item’ with the Civil Rights Movement is downright insulting. Nevertheless, the feminists, the environmentalists and the homosexual/lesbian lobbies have been so desperate to advance their OWN selfish objectives that they are quite willing to ‘hitch’ their wagon to a legitimate movement in order to ensnare people of color as pawns to become the poster children for immorality. Clubs, dogs, and bullets are not the same as paper or plastic, a ‘choice’ or ‘Adam and Steve; Mary and Sally’ getting a certificate at City Hall.

The deceived think that they are equal.

They are on their side of the big line in the sand.

THE SHIP OF ZION:

Those of us who are firm members on the Ship of Zion KNOW that we are on the righteous side of the line in the sand, as we know that God calls sin, S-I-N! I agree with God, therefore I’m on His side. Yes, I do know that there will be those who ‘claim’ to be members of their respective ‘churches’ and will try to invoke their god to tell those of us who are of the faith that the Bible was wrong, and Jesus Christ was gay. Yes, I know that there are folks out there, swilling their ‘Hater-aide’, and will attempt to justify their sin by trying to talk, shout, or threaten their opposition into silence.

Well, I haven’t been silent on this issue before. Why should I be silent now?

Funny thing about this issue. Some of those who were the ‘first’ to have same-sex marriages have dropped their ‘spouses’ about 12-18 months after the ‘knot’ was tied. Still others are embroiled in nasty custody battles involving their ‘children’. This hardly seems like the ‘utopia’ that was promised in the ‘bill of sale’? But, we don’t get to hear about these stories…at least, not with as much fanfare as those who have showed up with their ‘indented’ in tow.

But, I digress.

Black folk have been in this country for nearly 400 years. I really doubt that God brought us through Indentured Servitude, Slavery, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, Segregation, Redlining and Civil Rights JUST to allow ourselves and our churches to be ‘connected’ to a fraud such as same-sex marriage! NO intelligent Black man or Black woman would dare hoist such a fraud on their people, and expect US to ‘let it pass.’

It won’t pass with me. It won’t pass with a LOT of people!

America now has legalized liquor–thanks to the government– after the ridicule and eventual defeat of Prohibition. Even though liquor had been researched, studied and shown to be harmful, folk will drink and hang the consequences, even if God is trampled in the process. Abortion became legal, again–thanks to the government. 45-plus million legal abortions later, we wonder why the economy is in tatters, lives ruined and a large segment of our labor force and tax base is gone. Now, our President has just endorsed something that sent a chill throughout the land, and drew a big line in the sand, further showing the nation’s back towards the Living God. In the end, it’s going to cost him not only the election, but the respect of his fellow citizens.

Especially those of us who know how to pray…and to vote.

The Dr. Vibe Show: Live Tonight At 9 P.M. EST/6 P.M. PST – Mike Ramey and Victory Unlimited “Have Too Blacks Gotten Used To Losing?”

0

Mike Ramey

Live tonight at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST, two friends of the show, Mike Ramey and Victory Unlimited, will be on our show discussing the topic “Have To Blacks Gotten Used To Losing?” During the discussion, some of the subjects that they will be talking about will be:

– Having a get-a-job mentality as opposed to a start-a-business mentality

– Accepting losses all the time in the criminal court system (black
justice vs. white justice)

– Preferring to have children outside of marriage or a strong
commitment as opposed to raising the children together.

– Choosing to “bite their tongues” instead of speaking out and standing up for what they believe

– Choosing the “safety” of being a perpetual servant to other people as opposed to stepping out on faith and becoming a leader of people who desperately need one

– Choosing to only do what they “have” to do in their lives and NEVER
choosing to even take a risk to try to live their dreams

During the live discussion, you have the opportunity to call in and share with us and ask questions via Skype. If you would like to do this, please call us at: doctorvibe42. If you get through, please be patient and we will get to your call as soon as possible.

The Dr. Vibe Show: Live Tonight At 8 P.M. EST/5 P.M. PST – Pervis Taylor III (Life Coach, Motivator Speaker, Author)

0

Pervis Taylor III

Hailing from Lancaster, Texas, Pervis Taylor III officially began his career in entertainment during the summer of 2000. While attending the University of Miami, on scholarship, he landed a coveted internship at Elektra Records where he worked in the Promotions and A&R department. One day while running errands for his boss, Pervis caught the eye of an MTV Casting Executive. Intrigued by his work ethic and professionalism, she decided to dedicate a half hour show to chronicle his internship at the record label. After the show aired, Pervis went back to school and made a huge discovery– Lyor Cohen, former CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group went to the University of Miami and no one knew. Always having a keen sense for branding and entertainment, Pervis created a scholarship program between Lyor, currently the CEO of Warner Music Group, and the University of Miami. The relationship still exists today. After graduating, Lyor was so impressed by Pervis’ business acumen that he offered him an opportunity to work for Def Jam as part of the marketing team. While there, he was instrumental in the success of artists such as Kanye West, DMX, Ashanti, Jay-Z and Ludacris. The opportunity afforded Pervis an understanding of branding and marketing, which later sparked him to apply this to his own brand.

His journey would take another turn when one day, he ran into a Modeling and Talent Scout from the prestigious, world renowned Wilhelmina Modeling Agency. After one meeting, he was offered a contract. The world of television, movies, commercials and print was new to Pervis, but he soon adjusted, landing parts in feature films and commercials. He later decided to work behind the scenes as a casting director and as a director of talent for a talent management company. Developing new skills and a deeper understanding of the film and television industry helped him discover a new talent—screenplay writing. Purchasing Final Draft—screenwriting software—and dedicating three months to writing, his first screenplay “The Rainbow Killer” was completed. Garnering much attention from his peers and major industry colleagues alike, Pervis decided to develop his script further and the idea for his own entertainment company, Right Angle Entertainment, was formed. He has always understood that success is not in a moment, but rather in the journey as a whole. Over the course of his career, Pervis penned the lessons he had learned throughout his life. Through his company, he decided to write his first book “Pervis Principles Volume One: A Daily Meditation Mini Book”, a book series for young people in their teens and twenties. Recently released in January 2011, to rave reviews, it is a daily meditation book designed to help the reader achieve a better quality of life versus a life quantified by things. Pervis recently added Life Coach to his repertoire. He is truly committed to transforming lives.

Pervis will be appearing on our show live tonight at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.

The Dr. Vibe Show: Michael “Pinball” Clemons “Finding Your Sweet Spot In Life … It Is Possible”

Michael

The Stand Up Young Men’s Conference, which marked its third year on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. The conference brings hundreds of students from at-risk communities throughout downtown Toronto and the surrounding area with positive black role models and mentors.

For the second year in a row, we were blessed to attend, record parts of and take pictures at the Stand Up Young Men’s Conference.

One of the highlight’s of this year’s conference was the keynote presentation given by Michael “Pinball” Clemons.

Renowned as one of pro football’s most electrifying players, Toronto Argonauts running back Michael “Pinball” Clemons was the CFL’s all-time all purpose yardage leader. However, it is his exceptional character, in addition to his outstanding athletic ability, that has made him the remarkable fan favourite throughout Canada.

Pinball’s tireless community involvement and participation in countless charitable causes exemplify the qualities he possesses, which are so rarely found in today’s professional athletes. He has used his superb leadership and communication skills in his former roles of Coach, President and CEO of the Toronto Argonauts – and now as the vice-chairman of the franchise. In 2001, Clemons was honoured with the Order of Ontario, and he was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

Pinball’s presentations are at once captivating and empowering, and clearly demonstrate the capabilities of teamwork. Pinball inspires his audiences by illustrating what is possible and what it means to beat the odds. Pinball communicates his heartfelt stories with a passionate spirit and his patented, contagious smile. Organizations respond to his presentations with rave reviews and overwhelming enthusiasm.

Michael founded and heads the Michael “Pinball” Clemons Foundation, committed to providing the resources to quicken education and build character among youth through projects around the globe.
