Rodney Smith is a writer, director and producer.

He regards himself as a film maker and left Barbados in 1999 pursue his passion of being a film maker.

Growing up he liked doing art and reading. He then spent some time as a bassist in a rock band in Barbados.

He wrote his first novel when he was seventeen years old and that lead him into writing screenplays.

During our interview, Rodney shares about:

– How he left Barbados and ended up in Minnesota for a period of time
– How the digital camera have eliminated any excuses of making a film
– How he started doing web series
– The story behind his relationship with CaribbeanTales

Edward Williams is a pundit for the site Policy Mic was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. He lived in Washington then went to teach in Atlanta but has returned to Washington to pursue his law studies.

During our conversation, Edward talks about various subjects including:

– How supportive his parents were while he was growing up
– Family and education was valued in his growing up years
– How he ended up going to Howard University
– The challenge of leaving home and going to college and how going to changed in a positive way
– How he postponed going to law school into teaching for a few years and what did he learn while he was a third grade teacher
– Why did he leave teaching
– The story behind the article
– The reason for the lack of young Black successful men
– Why he feels education system is failing to educate Black men and the effects of this
– His belief that society and education system devalues Black men
– What can young Black men do to become successful and what does the community need do to help this situation

Bee Quammie is a Toronto-based blogger, health fanatic, and lover of all things fly.

In 2011, Bee launched ’83 To Infinity, a blog that focuses on life’s various journeys – including natural hair care, health & wellness, career tips, and relationships. ’83 To Infinity’s mission is to empower readers to see that it’s “never too late to learn something new, do something new, or be someone new.” Life is the ultimate teacher, so Bee pulls from personal passions and real-life experiences to connect with her readers.

Bee graduated with an Hons. BHSc from the University of Western Ontario, and a post-grad Health Promotion certificate from George Brown College. Her health care background extends from mental health research to international health to community outreach for adults with acquired brain injury.

Born and raised in London, Ontario, Bee has been a Toronto resident since 2006. She has been a guest speaker for the Malton Moms networking group, and has been featured on Three Naturals, MissGo2Girl, Curly Nikki and This Is Your Conscience.

Steven Gray is a columnist and contributing editor at The Root, providing reported analysis on politics and society. Previously, he was a Washington Correspondent at TIME, where he also worked as Detroit Bureau Chief and Chicago-based reporter. His coverage included the 2008 presidential race, Barack Obama’s relationship with black America, the economic crisis, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the auto industry, philanthropy, food, and immigration. Between 1998 and 2007 he was a reporter for The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. He has written for Salon, Fortune, the Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Times-Picayune, and The Nation, and produced reports for Chicago Public Radio and the New Orleans CBS affiliate, WWL-TV. He has provided analysis on NPR, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He was born in New Orleans, and lives in Washington.
