Feels Good to be Kind – Khalilah Brooks

Khalilah was born in Halifax Nova Scotia. Like most singers Khalilah grew up in the church, singing with her family. Khalilah learned through song, there was joy, tears and praise. At the tender age of 16 Khalilah really began to flourish when recognized by David Woods, the Artistic Director of the Black Artists Network of Nova Scotia.

David Woods gave Khalilah her first break to dance for his production group” Voices”. It was here where she discovered the need to perform. In 2002, Khalilah took the lead vocalist in the band “faith in the making where she performed steady throughout Ontario until 2004. After the band parted Khalilah continued to preserver and joined a Hip hop group called “DaMovemeant” where she joined forces with two male artists to create a new Canadian sound.

”DaMovemeant” (Khalilah, Fuzzy J, and Katt Fayme) became a great success with full house live performances throughout Ontario , and a strong fan based following, with a single on local mainstream radio stations such as “The Border” and even doing jingles for local businesses and radio advertisement. The group sold single handedly over 5,000 cds within the short period of 9 months.

Khalilah was recognized by American Modeling Talent Convention (AMTC) in 2005 where she traveled to Kansas City Kansas and ranked top 10 out of thousands of competitors for her unique style and vocal skill. Khalilah also did a short film where she made an appearance playing the character of “Sadie” the rebel biker in the film called “Sitting Kills”.

The Dr. Vibe Show™: Live Tonight At 9 P.M. Eastern/6 P.M. Pacific – Evie Robinson “Nomadness Travel Tribe”

Evie Robinson
Evie Robinson

After graduating with her B.A. in Television and Film production, from Iona College, Evita Robinson (Evie) hit the world running, or creating, rather. Within weeks of graduation, in 2006, she attended the New York Film Academy, studying Digital Filmmaking in Paris, France at La Femis film school. There, the seed for Nomadness LLC was planted after receiving acclaim for the films created through the duration of her program.

Since her first taste of Europe, at age twenty-one, Evita has traveled to twelve countries, on three different continents. She has since lived in New York, Paris, Japan, and Thailand.

After concluding a year and a half of traveling around the world, while videotaping her life on the NomadnessTV web series, Evie came back to New York on a mission to bridge her love of production and new found need for travel. In September 2011, she created the Nomadness Travel Tribe, an online social community for travelers all around the world, who have the similarity of an urban background or stylistic when traveling. For Evie, it’s about being the representation for the under represented. Within a year, the Tribe has augmented to a world wide movement, with over 3,000 members, boasting over 4,000 passport stamps, from nearly three dozen countries. She was named one of Clutch Magazine’s “11 Black Women Inspiring Us To Travel”, and the Tribe’s first ever NomadnessX group trip to Panama was featured in the July 2012 issue of Ebony Magazine. From the success of the online group, Evie thrust herself into the world of entrepreneurship, and in April 2012, launched the business home for all things Nomadness and travel oriented, Nomadness LLC. The business end of Nomadness includes the online community, merchandise line, travel series, group trips, and much more to come in the future.

Previously, while in New York City she worked in televsion and film production. Her resume included production work with names such as A&E, HBO, MTV, BET, BBC, TURNER, the reality travel series JET SET ZERO, and Spike Lee’s 40 ACRES AND A MULE FILMWORKS.

Countries Evie’s been to: Japan, Jamaica, Panama, United Kingdom, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Cambodia, India, Thailand, China, Spain, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico (US Commonwealth)

Favorite Quote: ‘Step out on nothing, and land on something.” Dr. Cornel West

Nomadness Travel Tribe, created by Evita Robinson, is an urban travel movement that spans 8,000 members, and over three dozen countries. We’re the edgy, under represented demo in the international travel industry, and we’ve formed our own Tribe. In the invitation-only platform, we share stories, advice, photos and conversation about our personal experiences around the world.

Evie will be live on our show tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific.

During our live conversation, you have the opportunity to call in and share with us and ask questions via Skype. If you would like to do this, please call us at: doctorvibe42. If you get through, please be patient and we will get to your call as soon as possible.
