LeRon L. Barton is a writer, photographer, and all around artist. He started Mainline Publishing to produce works that will captivate and get people talking. After tons of rejections letters and crazy advice from his agent, he decided to take his destiny into hia own hands and go indie, and Mainline Publishing was born. The idea behind the company was to showcase works that maybe considered too controversial for other houses to take on.

During our conversation, Mr. Barton talked about:

– Some of his growing up years, not engaging with his father until he was thirteen years old and having his primary male figure in his life was his grandfather

– Memories of getting involved in the arts at a young

When used by others as an insult, the controlling image of The Angry Black Woman has caused Black women to feel isolated, humiliated and suffocated for far too long. A controlling image is more than a stereotype.
