ON Saturday, August 13, 2011, the place to be is Orono Park in the city of Clarington. The fun starts at high noon and won’t wrap up until 7:00 p.m. Real talk, y’all … you DON’T wanna miss this!
“Wait a minute … ain’t Clarington outside of Toronto? How are we gonna get all the way out there?”
No worries – the Black Daddies Club members put our heads together and solved that problem! We have secured two buses. The first will depart from Downsview Park at 10:50a.m. and the second leaves at 1:50 p.m. The other pick-up point is the Scarborough Town Center and the departure times are 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
If you intend to travel on one of the buses, it is important that you arrive at the pick-up point on time. The cost for this roundtrip service is a very modest $5, which is to be paid as you enter the bus. And to sweeten the deal, Popchips and Jerkalicious have graciously provided complimentary ‘in-flight’ munchies!
Bring yo’ kids! There will be no shortage of cool things for children, including:
· Football drills, conducted by the Scarborough Thunder football team;
· A touch football game;
· Storytelling by authors Junior Burchall and Angelot Ndongmo;
· Sack races, tug-o-war, face painting, swimming and much,much more!
In addition, you will have the opportunity to purchase our limited edition Black Daddies Club T-shirts and purchase BDC member Junior Burchall’s powerful book,Look For Me In the Whirlwind: A Story of Marcus Garvey, just in time for the commemoration of this great Jamaican icon’s 124th birthday (on August 17th). Part proceeds will go to the BDC.
