The Dr.Vibe Show: Dr. David Leonard – January 2012: Black Students And Duke University

0

We are privileged and blessed to have Dr. David Leonard monthly on the show. Dr. David Leonard is a professor of critical culture, race and gender at Washington State University for the last ten years.

In his first monthly appearance, Dr. Leonard discusses the Duke University study that claims that Black students match the GPA of White students over time because they switch to majors that require less study and have less stringent study requirements.

Dr. Leonard shares his concerns about the assumptions that arise from this study, how the United States university and college system is not fair for Black students and why this is so and the effects of this. He also answers the following questions: Are universities and colleges places of higher learning? What needs to be done about this situation? What can White students and scholars do to stop institutional racism in places of higher learning?

Dr. Leonard also gives a quick take on the current United States Republican party presidential contest. We ask Dr. Leonard: Does the Republican platform represent the opinion of many Americans?

The Dr.Vibe Show: Live Tonight At 8 P.M. – Book Reviewer Joey Pinkney (www.joeypinkney.com)

0

Joey Pinkney

Joey Pinkney writes and maintains JoeyPinkney.com to feature book reviews and author interviews.

Joey started JoeyPinkney.com in June 2006 to do something constructive with his obsession with the internet. At first, he used the site as a vehicle to write about things such as weight loss and acne prevention, among other things. The site has slowly transitioned into what you see now – strictly about books and authors.

Joey uses the website in conjunction with social media websites to spread the word about different authors and books that he comes into contact with. For Joey, this is a perfect way to have a central place to see the various authors and books that are available while also using the power of Web2.0 to generate a global level of exposure.
