The Dr.Vibe Show: G98.7FM Opening Ceremonies – Monday, November 7, 2011

On Monday, November 7, Toronto’s newest radio station, G98.7 FM (CKFG) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open its brand new studio location at 34 Kern Road in the Don Mills and York Mills area in Toronto.

G98.7 Founder, President, CEO & Station Manager Fitzroy Gordon and Program Director Wayne Williams revealed the on-air team that will be heard on Canada’s first and only Urban Adult Contemporary (AC)-formatted radio station starting on Monday, November 14. G98.7 FM’s parent company, Intercity Broadcasting Network Inc, received its broadcast licence from the Canadian Radio-television & Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) on June 9, 2011, and the station hit the airwaves on October 3, 2011. As part of the required signal frequency testing process (mandated by Industry Canada), G98.7 has been broadcasting a music-only playlist for several weeks. The station’s official launch will be on Monday, November 14, 2011.

The Dr. Vibe Show: Q & A Session After "Dark Girls" World Premiere

We would like to thank Bill Duke (@RealBillDuke, http://www.billduke.com/) and D. Channsin Berry (http://urbanwinter.com/), the co-producers of the documentary “Dark Girls” (http://officialdarkgirlsmovie.com/, @DarkGirls_Movie) and some members of their team for spending some quality time with us during the most recent Toronto International Film Festival (@TIFF_NET).

“Dark Girls” had its world premiere on September 14, 2011 at the Toronto Film Festival.

After the screening, Bill and D. Channsin held a Q & A with the audience. We have some video of the Q & A for you to enjoy.

Ashley Ingram

Ashley Ingram is a singer, musician, Grammy Award-winning songwriter, producer and former member of the British soulgroup Imagination. Ashley is the founder and headmaster of the Ainsley Ingram School of Music. Ashley was born in Northampton, England in 1960. He parents were from Jamaica and he was one six children. During our chat, Ashley talks and reflects on many subjects including why his parents left Jamaica to go to England, some memories and challenges growing up, a game changing moment at 13 years old, starting the band “Imagination” and signing his first record contract at 19 years old, some stories from his performing days, the first time that he produced for another artist (Des’ree “You Gotta Be” which won a British Grammy Award), working with various artists such as Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera and artists around the world, why left the music industry to start his own school and his message for Black men.
