Dr. Noel Hutchinson – Host Of “Black Thought” On MUTV1
From expounding on scriptures in the pulpit to addressing the issues affecting the African American community, Dr. Noel Hutchinson, pastor of First Baptist Church, Lauderdale, is continuing this line of thinking as the premise for Black Thought. He looks at African American history and its relevance today, analyzes it, addresses current problems in the African-American community, and seeks solutions. He also delves into the thought processes of African Americans and engages in enthusiastic conversation with his guests on such relevant issues as crime, recidivism and education, among other issues. Black Thought airs at 10:00 a.m. Central Time weekdays.

On this month’s “What Kind of Man Do You Want To Be” Google Live Hangout, Marie Roker-Jones and Dr. Vibe will be speaking with Gordon Braxton and Suzanne Casamento live tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific via Google Hangout about gender based violence and how to speak our sons and daughters about healthy relationships, dating and sexual violence. We’ll also address bystanders syndrome and how to empower them to speak up.
Gordon Braxton is a 2002 graduate of the University of Virginia and a 2008 graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He started speaking on sexual violence prevention as an undergraduate peer educator. He then spent the first decade of his professional career working as a public speaker on violence awareness and as a prevention specialist on college campuses. Dr. David J. Leonard is associate professor in the Department of Critical Culture, Gender, and Race Studies at Washington State University, Pullman. With a B.A. in Black studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master’s and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, he has dedicated his career to interdisciplinary scholarship, transformative teaching, and research that underscores the continued significance of race within popular culture, the structures of politics, and society at large.
Dr. Leonard will speaking about various subjects including the current American federal government shutdown.

A 15-year veteran K-12 teacher. Walter Duncan’s students were ranked in the top 15% of all Massachusetts Public School students on MCAS ELA in 2012. He has deep experience getting the best out of his kids in inner-city school districts such as Detroit, Washington DC, and Boston. Duncan hosts the Teachers’ Round Table, an online forum for teachers committed to progressive practice and evidence-based, data-driven education.
Additionally, he is the co-founder of Design By Educators, a social impact company that seeks to empower teachers to more effectively close the achievement gap. He also the creator of the Quick Key App for teachers. Duncan lives in Cambridge, MA with his wife Cara and Chihuahua Duggie Fresh.
Mr. Duncan will be on our show live tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific. He will be talking about various subjects including being a successful black teacher in black and white schools, being a black entrepreneur, how to encourage our young men to work for themselves and build our community and the Quick Key.
