#NOHAIRSELFIE Campaign

Ingrid Atyeo is a certified Oncology Nurse working at Princess Margaret Hospital since April 1985. She has have worked on several units, for the last 15 years and has worked on Allo Transplant unit. She is also the President of the Nurses Union here at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Paulene Harvey was born in Jamaica and grew up in England where she received training as a nurse. Having migrated to Canada in 1983, Paulene began one of her most rewarding endeavors: Working with children, including taking care of a year-old child with a rare form of cancer, whom eventually became cancer free. Later, she was one of the “Canadians” who helped to free Rubin “Hurricane” Carter after twenty years of wrongful imprisonment in New Jersey, a story.

In 1994, Paulene, along with Rubin Carter, the other “Canadians” and a small group of dedicated attorneys, founded the Association in Defense of the Wrongly Convicted (AIDWYC), which has been outstandingly successful in exposing and overturning, many wrongful convictions, including those of Guy Paul Morin, David Milgaard, Steven Truscott and many others.

Paulene is co-founder, Creative Director, Community Liaison, Director of Community Projects and project manager of the successful Toronto-based hat company, Big It Up Hats International. Paulene is also one of the fashion consultants and Stylists for the company. As community Liaison, Paulene, through Big It Up Hats, has supported numerous community organizations such as Tropicana, LAMP, school fashion show, to name a few. Paulene was one of the founders and facilitator of the “Shoot With This” film mentorship program, mentoring at-risk youth in the Jane/Finch neighborhood of Toronto. Although she is no longer works as a facilitator, the program, now in its 6th year, continues and its success is well documented and celebrated.

In the fall of 2008, Paulene founded and currently facilitates the Scarf-Tying volunteer Workshop at Princess Margaret Hospital. She demonstrates fashionable scarf-tying techniques for cancer patients experiencing hair loss due to chemotherapy’s side effects). Creating beautiful designs with scarves is an alternative to wigs. In 2013 she received her 5-year-voluteer Pin, from the University Health Network, Princess Margaret Hospital.

In January 2010, Paulene founded the very successful program called Youth In Time, supporting teenagers and young adults living with cancer. With the keen understanding that expressing oneself through the arts contribute to the mental, social and physical wellbeing of all people and the youth population especially.

Paulene took the Youth In Time program idea, joined with Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto, a cancer support facility, to bring film and photography to the young underserved group within the healthcare system. The collaboration is now called ‘Filming Ourselves’ and runs weekly from January to June at Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto. Paulene’s life has been remarkable for its divergent turns, all of which are expressions of her boundless energy, creativity, innate sense of justice and her warmth and compassion for people.

Participating in the #NoHairSelfie campaign gives us the chance to show our solidarity with Canadians undergoing cancer treatment and provides much-needed funds for cancer research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world.

Pauline Harvey and Ingrid Atyeo will be on our show to discuss the #NoHairSelfie fundraising campaign and impact of cancer on Black Canadians. live tonight at 7 p.m. Eastern/4 p.m. Pacific.

The Dr. Vibe Show™: Live Tonight At 9 P.M. Eastern/6 P.M. Pacific – Rodney Kellum “From Homeless To Homeowner In 90 Days”

Rodney Kellum - From Homeles To Homeowner In Under 90 Days

Rodney Kellum is a recovering workaholic. For the last two years, he has been working smart instead of hard for two years now and it feels great.

He is a follower of Jesus Christ and a husband to his beautiful wife, Krystal. They have a five year old son, Randall, and a daughter on the way.

After graduating from college, he worked hard and achieved several of my career goals but he never found myself feeling truly fulfilled. He was always tired, not achieving his financial goals, and I did not get to spend enough time with my family and loved ones.

That is until he decided to change his life. Rodney is an online entrepreneur who has a real work/life balance. I also have a passion to help other fathers break free from the dream killing employee mindset that used to keep me trapped in a cycle of unemployment, broke, and unfulfilled.

Rodney will be on show live tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific. He will talking about his journey from being homeless to being a homeowner in ninety days.

All you need to do watch the show live is to go The Dr. Vibe Show Homepage at http://thedrvibeshow.com/ tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific. The Dr. Vibe Show™: Live Tonight At 8 P.M. Eastern/5 P.M. Pacific – Jasmyn Fyffe “Pulse” At The 2015 Toronto Fringe Festival

Jasmyn Fyffe – Pulse at The 2015 Toronto Fringe Festival

The critically acclaimed show; Pulse, will make its highly anticipated Toronto premiere at the Next Stage Theatre Festival Wednesday, January 7, 2015 and will play until Sunday, January 18, 2015.

Choreographed by Toronto dance artist Jasmyn Fyffe it started as a commission for Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend in 2012; the show has since gone on to win over audiences and critics. With high-energy contemporary dance sequences and a soulful soundtrack, Pulse has audiences dancing in their seats and humming the tunes long after the show. Also highly praised by critics, winning the Frankie Bouge d’Ici award for outstanding choreography at the 2013 Montreal Fringe Festival, theatregoers are anticipating its nine-day Toronto run.

Inspired by and dedicated to her parents, Pulse showcases Fyffe’s love for 60’s and 70’s soul music, and her unique contemporary dance style. “I grew up listening to and watching my parents dance to Motown artists like Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and James Brown. It was a positive and inspiring experience for me,” says choreographer Jasmyn Fyffe. “They truly influenced this show and my career as an artist, bringing me to museums, theatres, and galleries. That is why Pulse is dedicated to them, because I would not be the artist I am without them. They’ve not only influenced my career but the way I encourage my son’s creative spirit like they did mine.”

Pulse will be the only dance show in this years’ Next Stage Theatre Festival (NSTF), and is only the third dance show to ever play in the festival. Presented by the Toronto Fringe, NSTF has become Toronto’s foremost winter theatre event showcasing the best in Canadian indie theatre. This year’s festival will feature 10 shows over 12 days. “Pulse has been performed in Montreal, Brooklyn, and even North Bay, but having it produced in my hometown for the first time is a thrilling experience. The show has grown so much since its first performance and I’m happy to be sharing it with my family and friends for the first time”, says Fyffe. The show will feature a stellar cast of Toronto dancers including: Jonna Abrams, Bretonie Burchell, Irvin Chow, Julia Cosentino, Roney Lewis, Alyssa Petrolo, Steven Smith, Jessica Tomasone and choreographer Jasmyn Fyffe.

Jasmyn Fyffe will be on our show live on our show tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific.
