The Dr. Vibe Show™: Sam Thurman And Cliff Stewart “The IRP6 Case”

The IRP6

The IRP6

Six IT professionals, five black and one white (Kendrick Barnes, Gary L. Walker, Demetrius K. Harper, David A. Zirpolo, Clinton A. Stewart and David A. Banks), had a dream of developing law enforcement software that would assist local, state, and federal agencies in sharing information. They built a small company (IRP Solutions) that concentrated on developing a software application called CILC, which stands for Case Investigative Life Cycle. This software was developed to assist law enforcement in investigating a case through to prosecution. The necessity of this type of software was overly apparent as the government indicated the main reason 9/11 was able to occur was because of the inability of government agencies to share information.

Unfortunately for these six men (the IRP-6), their patriotic love for their country was rewarded with 7 to 11 year sentences in federal prison. On February 9th 2005, IRP Solutions (an 18 employee black owned company in Colorado Springs, Colorado) was raided by over twenty FBI agents.

Sam Thurman is president of A Just Cause and Cliff Stewart, brother of one of the IRP6 men. A Just Cause is a 501(c)(3) organization that was established in 2005 by a group of concerned citizens who were witness to a federal criminal case that was grossly over-criminalized. After seeing how a case can be misconstrued as criminal, and peoples’ lives turned upside down, A Just Cause was formed to fight abuse and misuse of power within the justice system.

Sam and Cliff joined us to discuss the “IRP6”. During our conversation, they talk about:

– How “A Just Cause” come into existence
– The history behind the company IRP Solutions (African American start up)
– The raid on the IRP’s offices and the trial of the “IRP6”
– Their reaction watching the trial
– The push to get a key part of the trial transcript released
– How are the “IRP6” holding up and the effects of the trial on their families
– What is the next step and how can the public help
– Their message for Black men

The Dr. Vibe Show™: Live Tonight At 9 P.M. Eastern/6 P.M. Pacific – Akiim DeShay “African American Bone Marrow Awareness Month”

0
Akiim DeShay
Akiim DeShay

Akiim DeShay is the owner of OnlyMoveForward.com which publishes BlackDemographics.com, BlackBoneMarrow.com, BlacksInDallas.com,
HoustonInBlack.com, and AutismInBlack.com

In November 2003, he became very ill and was diagnosed with Leukemia. The doctor in the ER (Dr. Megan Conoley) prayed for him and his wife out-loud in the ER. She is now his family doctor. Three days later he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and savoir.

Unfortunately, the chemotherapy failed. The prognosis turned grim (10-15%) but his only sibling Rashaan DeShay was a perfect match for a bone marrow transplant.

His second child and only son was born a week before his transplant which took place on Good Friday, April 2004. A week later, he launched his first website, BlacksinDallas.com, from the hospital while still in recovery.

Recovery for Akiim has been long and very difficult. Since then, physical pain and suffering has been part of his daily life. Akiim later helped start a campaign in Dallas to recruit African Americans to join the National Marrow Donor Programs registry to help save other Black lives. For this he created the website, BlackBoneMarrow.com, which has since become a national reference for the issue regarding the lack of donors in the Black Community.

In 2007, he launched his largest web site, BlackDemographics.com, an attempt to create a blueprint of Black America. A single resource for information about African Americans, and how we work, live, learn, vote, and pray.

Unfortunately on Super Bowl Sunday 2009, Akim became very ill again
(strep, flu, pneumonia and acute epiglottitis) and went to the Emergency room in a Dallas hospital where he stopped breathing. After flat-lining twice and two separate emergency surgeries the doctors told his wife he should have died but will have severe brain damage due to loss of oxygen to the brain (5-10min).

Miraculously, he woke up the next morning with no brain damage and was released two weeks later to live a normal life. The doctors all say it was a miracle. But he knows God is the only reason for his survival.

With this month being African American Bone Marrow Awareness Month, Akim will be live on our show tonight 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific to talk about the issue of the lack of life saving donors in the Black community.

During our live interview, you have the opportunity to call in and share with us and ask questions via Skype. If you would like to do this, please call us at: doctorvibe42. If you get through, please be patient and we will get to your call as soon as possible.

In this episode of “Dr. Vibe’s Allies”, Victory Unlimited, Henri Morris and TheStyleGent™ discuss “The Emotional IQ Of A Man”.

They answer and discuss the following questions:

What is Emotional Intelligence?

Who is more emotional—men or women?

From an early age, what are most men taught about showing their
emotions?

Do real men show their emotions?

What do women really think of emotional men?

When is it in a man’s best interest to show his emotions?

When is it NOT in a man’s best interest to show his emotions?

How does a man’s Emotional IQ affect his relationships with his friends,
his family, his coworkers, or his girlfriend or his wife?

Is it better for a man to be more emotional—or more logical?

What can men do to increase their Emotional IQ?
