The Innoversity Creative Summit is a 14 year old non-profit media summit sponsored and presented by Bell Media. Their mandate is Innovation, Diversity and Creativity. For several years their partners have been the National Film Board and the Canadian Film Centre. We’re sponsored by Bell Media, Shaw Media, DGC. They have worked with the gamut of Canadian media over 14 years. In 2001, the first keynote was Malcolm Gladwell and last year Disney and Shaw.

It is an extremely unique annual Canadian media summit. They bring top insiders together with emerging to mid-career producers. Innoversity is a non-profit founded in 2000. It works to create opportunities for women, people of colour, cultural minority, Aboriginal people and disabled Canadians to actively engage with, and be reflected within, key societal sectors and institutions. It’s a marketplace for great media ideas and a meeting place for those in the media and cultural sector. Innoversity is a hot bed for media talent from diverse Canadian backgrounds.

With practical and creative workshops, panels and showcases, thought-provoking guest speakers, and many opportunities to launch ideas, Innoversity serves to inspire. Innoversity has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes, scholarships, cash, mentorships and development contracts to talented individuals.

They have provided creative professionals with the skills and tools to develop and pitch their ideas with backgrounds in TV, print, film, and digital media. We work with media departments in colleges and universities. We also give mentorships and training to emerging students in media with disabilities.

The organization prides itself that their Summit looks like Canada. They bring top insiders together with emerging to mid-career outsiders.

2014 Canadian Urban Music Conference - October 14, 2014 - Toronto
2014 Canadian Urban Music Conference – October 14, 2014 – Toronto

Now in its 3rd year, The Canadian Urban Music Conference is a celebration of a new generation of Canadian talent and powerful industry leaders on the cutting edge of city-inspired genres of music. Canadian Urban Music is unique in that it includes Hip hop, R&B, Pop, Reggae, Soca and African popular music. This year, the conference is presented by G98.7FM|The Way We Groove and has found a new home at The Toronto Reference Library’s Bram and Bluma Appel Salon.

Music Nation Foundation’s (MNF) vision is to provide education about the music industry to the Canadian Urban Music Community with a current focus on the Greater Toronto area, and to promote and showcase Canadian Hip Hop, RnB, Pop Reggae, Soca and African pop performers to the world. The goal of MNF, is to provide opportunities to network, strengthen business ties, learn and focus on genre specific issues in a communal atmosphere which is often lost in environments not focused on the issues faced by these genres. In addition, our seminars foster an environment that invites learning and growth through education and outreach. We support the development of artistic talent and the local arts and performance infrastructure.

The annual Canadian Urban Music Conference (CUMC), a brainchild of MNF, is Canada’s first city-style music conference with intimate and interactive seminars, A&R feedback sessions, VIP events and live concerts for cutting-edge music including Hip hop, R&B, Pop, Reggae, Soca and African popular music . It takes place in the fall of each year, at some of the most distinguished venues across the City of Toronto. It provides music professionals with the tools to create, communicate and participate in this global multi-billion dollar music industry. It consists of a series of intimate and interactive workshops, A&R meetings, live concerts networking lunches and private VIP cocktail events.

CUMC is committed to giving professionals a competitive edge and a truly revolutionary way to Network… Learn… and do Business.
