The Dr. Vibe Show: Duncan Vignale – Part One

0

Duncan Vignale

In this episode, we are privileged to have Duncan Vignale share some of his story.

Judo has been a major part of Duncan Vignale’s life since the 1950s.

He recieved his Shodan (first degree black belt) in 1961 and his Shichidan (7th degree black belt) in the year 2000. As a competitive judoka, competing for over 20 years, he won the Ontario and Eastern Canadian Championships and placed 3 times in the Canadian Championships. In 1964, he had the honour of being selected as an alternate to Mr. Doug Rogers, who won the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics (Canada sent only one judoka to these games).

Duncan’s involvement with Judo Ontario included being a member of council, vice president and president and I was also vice president of Judo Canada. Additionally, he served as chairman of Judo Ontario’s Grading Board and was also a member of Judo Canada’s National Grading Board. I earned my national “A” referee status in 1983 and was on the coaching staff of Judo Ontario and held the position as Head Coach for 4 years.

Duncan is dedicated to passing on what he has learned to others. Enjoy!!

The Dr. Vibe Show SPECIAL: CLARENCE HAYNES AND ANTHONY MAIR

2

Clarence Haynes

Anthony Mair

We hope that you are enjoying Black/African History Month!!

In this episode, we bring you a special episode!!!

One of the show’s best and good friends is Anthony Mair of Harlem Underground Restaurant. Both of Harlem’s locations have host many of our podcasts. We appreciate their support and don’t take it for granted.

Recently, Anthony told us about Clarence Haynes, a gentleman that I had to meet who is ninety-two years old. He gave me his email address and suggested that we send him an email. We wondered when he would respond. Well, Mr. Haynes responded in less than five hours. Wow!! Then, Mr. Haynes sent me an email asking me if I would be a friend on his “Facebook” page. What?

Well, you know after all of this that we had to interview Mr. Haynes. What an experience meeting listening, speaking with and sharing with him!!! Mr. Haynes is part of Canadian history. He has so many great things during his journey. One of these was part of the legendary “Underground Railroad Restaurant” in Toronto during the 1970’s.

One of the many wonderful things that came out of this interview was that we were finally able to get Anthony Mair in front of the mic after two years of asking him for an interview.

While Mr. Haynes talks about some of his restaurant experiences during this episode, there are many nuggets that are useful for everyday life.

If you wish to find out more about Harlem Restaurant, please go to http://www.harlemrestaurant.com/underground/index.html (Harlem Underground) or http://www.harlemrestaurant.com/underground/index.html (Harlem East Side Restaurant).

If you would like to get in contact with Mr. Haynes, please send an email to our contact email address at info@blackcanadianman.com and we will forward the email to him.

We were so blessed to have Mr. Haynes on our program. He provides wisdom, knowledge, encouragement, enlightenment and empowerment. Don’t worry, we have some more shows with him coming up!!!

God bless, peace, be well and keep the faith,
Vibe and Vegas
