The Dr.Vibe Show: The First Black Canadian And Black American Men's Roundtable Featuring Dr. Vibe, Brandon Frame and Colin Jobe

1

With 2010 coming to an end, we thought that we talk and share about some of the stories that we thought were of interest to Black men in 2010. This episode not only was the start of our year in review but it was the start of a new feature for the show.

For a while, we had a vision of doing regular podcasts with Black Canadian and Black American men discuss various issues that they feel are important. Well, this episode is the start of this journey. In this episode, we have Colin Jobe of “Colin’s Edge” (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/colinsedge) and “The Cutting Edge” on CHRY FM (http://www.chry.fm/) and Brandon Frame “The Black Man Can”at http://theblackmancan.org/.

In this episode, we start off discussing about LeBron James leaving Cleveland and “taking his talents to Miami”. Everyone had a take on this story. We then move onto talking about about Blacks in sports.

If you would like to read a good book about Blacks and athletics, please check out:

“40 Million Dollar Slaves: ; The Rise, The Fall and Redemption Of The Fall Of The Black Athlete” by William C. Roden

Renowned “New York Times” columnist Rhoden deconstructs the black athlete in this explosive and absorbing discussion of race, politics, and the history of American sports. He argues that for all their money and fame, black athletes are no better off than slaves whose masters forced them to race and fight. (Book Synopsis)

The Dr. Vibe Show: JASON "BLOCKZ" ALLARD

0

Jason “Blockz” Allard knows the meaning of dusting off and trying again. Growing up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, “Blockz” was interested in two things as a child – basketball and music. “Blockz” struggled in school and often felt bored and uninterested in what he was doing. “Blockz” only began to excel once he was given the opportunity to perform at his annual school talent shows, and started to fall in love with what music had to offer him. He began to record music at his friend’s house – the only place he had access to turntables and a mic – and shortly afterward formed a group by the name of Black Soldiers in 2000. The rest is musical history.

“Blockz” shares about his growing up years, his relationship with his parents, how his musical journey started and where it is taking him and his thoughts about the challenges that young Black men are facing. “Blockz” released his first hit single “YEAH” the summer of 2010 which will be followed by an EP in the near future. “Blockz” is paving a new path for the international hip hop and R and B scene with his powerful lyrics and rhyming style.
