It is time for another live edition of “Dr. Vibe Allies” tonight at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST. Tonight’s topic is: Why do some Black women in relationships have a problem with the word “submission”?

Some of the questions that will be discussed:

What is the meaning of the word submission?

Are the changing perceptions of gender roles destroying Black relationships?

Is it possible for two people to BOTH be the leader in the same relationship?

Is extreme feminism the cause of most of the problems in black relationships?

Do the ways some men act in relationships cause many women to think negatively about the concept of submission?

Should men still be the head of their households today? And if so, what can men do regain this position?

Tonight’s scheduled guests are Victory Unlimited (@VictoryUnlimitd), Mike Ramey, Hank Morris (@fortheluvofu), Clive Henry (@clivehenry1), TheStyleGent (@TheStyleGent, Jason Francis (@TrueOmegaNexus) and Vegas.

The Dr. Vibe Show: Robin Givens “Joy In The Morning” – October 27, 2012 and October 28, 2012 In Toronto

2
Joy In The Morning
Robin Givens And Dr. Vibe

Robin Givens is no neophyte as an author. She has penned several articles for publication. Her critically acclaimed autobiography ‘Grace Will Lead Me Home’ was nominated for the coveted NAACP Image Award…praiseworthy though it is, that year, it was hard to beat out Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama, who won for ‘Dreams From My Father’.

Neither is Ms. Givens a neophyte to the Stage. She made history by appearing as Roxie Hart on Broadway…the first time ever a Black Woman had played the role in the longest running musical in Broadway History. Robin Givens has made countless appearances both on and off Broadway. ‘Joy in the Morning’ has permitted Ms. Givens to use her gift of writing, as well as, her theatrical experiences…yet, nothing is of greater value to any of us than our personal experiences…all of this permits her to pen a vividly provocative play that speaks of the human experience…the love we as humans crave…the heartbreak we all encounter…the faithfulness of God we can all come to know. The Play is oozing with earthly pleasures and disappointments, while overflowing with the ‘Joy’ of the Spirit. ‘Joy in the Morning’, is written and directed by Robin Givens.

Robin Givens steps into what many may see as a new role, as writer and director: though, ‘Joy in the Morning’ is a Play with Music that has been in development for more than a decade. Written initially as a ‘Spiritual Memoir’, in 1998 Robin called on friends of hers’ Yolanda Adams, Johnny Gill and James Avery to bring this deeply stirring and profoundly thought provoking piece to life…they performed it as a Stage Reading with Music in New York at Carnegie Hall.

This production has come a long way and traveled far to become the powerful play that it is today…from America to Bermuda and back. Each step of the way it has evolved in character and become enriched with talent. “Exclusive Entertainment feels honored to bring ‘Joy in the Morning’ to Toronto, where it will feature some of our hometown’s most notable talent–such as Divine Brown” says George Fynn, CEO of Exclusive Entertainment.

Robin Givens has written a story you will not forget…‘Joy’ in the Morning is a provocative love story that will touch every heart…because without a doubt we all know love and heartbreak…triumph and defeat…and…sometimes we have to lose ourselves…to find, who we were always intended to be.

During our conversation, Robin talks about:

– The story behind the play and what the play is about
– Why she loves coming back to Toronto what message that she would like men to get from watching the play
– Some of the cast members
– Why did she choose to take her mother’s book to the stage
– Her passion about the play
– The importance of spirituality in her life
– The music in the play
– Why women and men should come to see the play
– Her appreciation of Toronto

The cast of “Joy In The Morning” includes veteran singer-actor Christopher Williams, actress Jazsmin Lewis, the legendary Ms. A’ngela Winbush, new comers Krissy Pizzo, Mark Shoemaker and Micah Andrews and the newest talent to step onto the stage of ‘JOY’ is Toronto’s Divine Brown.
